Moortown dashed to an early 12-3 lead thanks to tries from Jack Hughes and Tom Moorby with fly-half Tom Ratcliffe kicking a penalty for the visitors.

Scarborough cut the deficit to a couple of points when winger Sam Jackson dived in to touchdown and Ratcliffe converted for 10-12.

Tries from Gary Smith and Eddie Crossland for the home side and a touchdown by Scarborough lock Luke Brown saw Moortown lead 24-17 at the break.

A further Moorby try stretched the home lead to 29-17 before a Crossland penalty and drop-goal completed the Moortown scoring at 35-17.

A late Jordan Holloway try converted by Ratcliffe saw Moortown run out deserved 35-24 winners.

This Saturday (8 February) the Seasiders get a chance to bounce back as West Hartlepool are their next opponents at Silver Royd.
