Injury-hit Scarborough returned to form from following recent disappointments running in eight tries including a hat-trick from scrum-half Jordi Wakeham who was in explosive form against bottom club Huddersfield YMCA.
Scarborough’s abrasive pack dominated at scrum time from the start and they surged ahead with a couple of well-worked tries (one converted by fly-half Tom Ratcliffe) to lead 12-0. As the Seasiders dominated, winger Jonty Holloway and Ratcliffe added tries to stretch the lead to 24-0. YM recorded their first touchdown of the game on the stroke of halftime when centre Sam Fletcher intercepted a loose Scarborough pass deep in his own half and ran the length of the field to touch down. The visitors failed to convert and Scarborough led 24-5 at the break.
Scarborough continued to press after the break and when they gained possession on the Huddersfield ten metre line, winger Jack Anderson powerfully threaded his way through the visiting defence and cut in to score underneath the posts; Wakeham converted for 31-5.
In a rare incursion into the Scarborough half, a YM penalty was adjudged to have gone into touch in-goal by touch judge Dave Coates; however referee Jeff Hudson standing 30 yards away judged the ball had gone into touch short of the corner flag and awarded a lineout to YM. From the throw the second row Jacob Priestley crossed from the catch-and-drive to reduce the arrears at 10-31.
