Following last week’s narrow 9-15 defeat at Morley, Scarborough will look to bounce back as they take on Pocklington in North One East at Silver Royd on Saturday.
Pocklington lost their first four fixtures of the season against Moortown and York at home and West Hartlepool and Durham City on the road. They recorded their first win beating Driffield 27-25 at their Percy Road HQ on the 5th of October but that was followed with defeats by Morley and Kendal. November started with the 23-14 home defeat of Malton but that was followed with a 20-27 reverse at Bradford and Bingley. Last week they beat Cleckheaton 27-12 at home.
Last Saturday a sluggish Scarborough performance saw their opponents Morley run in three first half tries on a boggy surface at Scratchered Lane. However three penalty goals from Tom Ratcliffe kept the visitors in the hunt but Morley’s defence was resolute and they ran out 15-9 winners. However Scarborough earned a losing bonus point which kept them top of North One East. Last season Scarborough won 36-29 at Pocklington in October with ‘Pock’ getting revenge with a 25-7 win at Silver Royd
Coach Simon Smith has made only one change from last week’s starting line-up, Jack Anderson coming in on the wing for Joe Marshall who plays for the Vikings at Hornsea. Sam Pollock is front row replacement on the bench with Jordan Holloway and Komiti Tuilagi who is backs replacement. Elsewhere Henry Hocking returns from injury with the Vikings as does Tom Harrison. The Danesmen are in action at Pocklington; all games kick-off at 2.15pm.
