Having trailed 0-3 at the break Scarborough RUFC bounced back with second half tries from brothers Jonty and Jordan Holloway to grab a narrow 14-13 win at Durham City and go top in North One East this afternoon.

Scrum-half Paul Armstrong kicked City to a 3-0 lead fifteen minutes into the game and despite some good work from the visitors in a busy first half and the 38th minute sin-binning of flanker Tom Jones, the home side maintained their narrow advantage until half time.

The Seasiders struck early in the second half when scrum-half Jordan Wakeham’s box-kick found wing Jonty Holloway who stood up his opposite number and romped over to score; fly-half Tom Ratcliffe added the extras for a 7-3 Scarborough lead; however Armstrong added a second penalty for City minutes later to reduce the arrears to 7-6.

Durham’s discipline let them down throughout the game as first second row Kevin Showler and then replacement Reece Amir were sin-binned in the 62nd and 70th minutes respectively.

Prop Benny Blackall on debut almost forced his way over in the 70th minute before Jordan Holloway powered over for his second try converted by Ratcliffe for 14-6 in the 74th minute.

An injury-time try by wing Nathan Bushall for City converted by Armstrong reduced the Scarborough advantage to a single point at 14-13 but the visitors held their nerve for a narrow but deserved win on the road.
