Scarborough defend their line at Silver Royd this afternoon.

In a repeat in-reverse of last week’s game at Morley, Scarborough raced to a 26-3 lead against Percy Park thanks to tries from Euan Govier, Ben Martin, Drew Govier and Aaron Wilson. A penalty and converted try from the visitors and a late first half penalty from Scarborough’s Tom Ratcliffe saw the Seasiders lead 29-10 at the break.

Scarborough lost the services of influential scrum-half Jordi Wakeham 30 minutes into the game with a nasty facial injury; he was replaced by veteran coach Phil Stewart.

A terrific fight-back, saw the visitors run-in three second half tries to level the scores at 29-29 before nudging 32-29 ahead with a late penalty. However, the Seasiders struck back with an injury-time try from hooker Sam Dawson to send the big Silver Royd crowd home happy with a 34-32 win.

With Morley on the wrong end of a 29-24 score-line at Cleckheaton, the Seasiders stretched their lead at the top of NORTH ONE EAST to six points with two games to go.
