Scarborough were under immediate pressure from a lively Pocklington side in their league clash at Silver Royd but repulsed the early onslaught. However they had No8 Ben Martin Sin-binned for a tip tackle in the 15th minute.

Although down to 14 men the Seasiders were first on the scoresheet with a try from centre Jimmy Perrett in the 26th minute: fly-half Tom Ratcliffe added the extras for a 7-0 lead.

Pocklington struck back with an unconverted try before Scarborough second row Tom Hicks was Yellow-carded on the stroke of half time with his side leading 7-5.

Hicks was red-carded for a second yellow almost immediately on his return to the paddock but the Seasiders stuck to their task going into the fourth quarter.

However the visitors numerical advantage eventually told and they ran-in four late tries as the home side tired and lost skipper Matty Jones sent off.

Although the best side won, Scarborough were severely hampered by the sendings off and cards which disrupted their forward pack for most of the game, something they’ll have to think long and hard about before their next league outing in two weeks time.

Bridlington’s 53-5 defeat at Morpeth sees the Northumbrian club move to top spot in North One East.
