TOM RATCLIFFE AND CADE ROBINSON IN DEFENSIVE ACTION AT CLECKHEATON LAST WEEK

League-leaders Scarborough entertain second-placed Huddersfield YMCA in a NORTH ONE EAST top of the table clash at Silver Royd on Saturday.

‘YM’ are having a successful season and are three points below Simon Smith’s charges, they’ve been on a great run losing only once in their last nine games. Last week they staged an amazing comeback in their home game with Bradford & Bingley coming from 8-31 down just after half-time to earn a bonus point with a 34-31 win.

Scarborough have also been in top form having lost only once in their last ten games and that was a defeat by Driffield on the 3rd of November. Last week they were on the road at Cleckheaton and came away with a 29-19 bonus-point win following a hard-fought game. Highlight of the day was the introduction of super-veteran prop Tom Fish for the final quarter of the game. 51 years young, Fishy had a solid game and played his part in an excellent result for the team.

For the visit of the west Yorkshiremen, Scarborough will be without the services of No8 Ben Martin who sustained a head injury at Cleckheaton. Last week’s man of the Match Cade Robinson takes his place in the back row with Luke Brown replacing him in the second row. Ian Williams is the forward replacement and Billy Parker and Joe Marshall join him on the bench

The Seasiders’ last defeat on the road was in September against Saturday’s opponents; a close-fought game ended with a 26-23 scoreline in favour of YM; however tries from Matty Jones, Jonty Holloway and two from Luke Brown on debut ensured the visitors took two bonus points from the game. Both sides have pushed on since then and Saturday’s fixture promises to be another close encounter with the score hopefully going in Scarborough’s favour this time.

Also in action are the Vikings who narrowly lost 33-34 to Goole at Silver Royd last week; they travel to Lincolnshire to take on Scunthorpe whilst the Danesmen entertain Driffield at Silver Royd. All games kick-off at 2.15pm.
