SAM DAWSON IS CONGRATULATED BY HIS TEAMMATES ON HIS WINNING TRY AGAINST CLECKHEATON AT SILVER ROYD

With the festive break behind them Scarborough RUFC will be looking to start 2019 with a win on the road at Cleckheaton. However Coach Simon Smith knows he’ll have a hard task ahead of him as the west Yorkshire men were in fine form winning three in a row in the run-up to Christmas; Morley and Bradford & Bingley on the road and Percy Park at home.

Scarborough ended the first half of the season leading North One East and hammered local rivals Bridlington 31-3 at Silver Royd in the pre-Christmas game. Simon Smith’s side shows only one change from the starting line-up against Brid: Manning Smith is unavailable and Joe Marshall will replace him on the wing. Prop Alexis Core has now returned to France as he has completed the language course he was taking locally so Ian Williams, Luke Brown and Billy Parker will be on the bench.

Scarborough fought out a very close game with Cleckheaton at Silver Royd back in September when an injury-time Sam Dawson try clinched the game 26-19. I’m sure skipper Matty Jones’s men will have an equally close game on their hands in west Yorkshire on Saturday.
