SCARBOROUGH 31 BRIDLINGTON 3

Scarborough confirmed their top-spot in North One East with a convincing five try to nil victory over Bridlington in the much anticipated Yorkshire Coast derby at Silver Royd this afternoon.
Coach Simon Smith’s charges conceded an early penalty but bounced back with tries from winger Jonti Holloway and Hooker Sam Dawson, converted by flyhalf Tom Ratcliffe to lead 12-3 at the break.
Bridlington had been reduced to 14 men when they lost centre Jamie Martin for raining down blows on a prone Scarborough number eight Ben Martin after only fifteen minutes; one of several disciplinary lapses by the men from Dukes Park.
The home side raced 17-3 ahead when wingman Manning Smith secured the second half kick-off and powered over for an unconverted score.
Scarborough failed to drive home their numerical advantage in the third quarter but a second try for Dawson converted by Ratcliffe in the 67th minute stretched the lead to 24-3 before substitute centre Billy Parker crossed late in the game to stretch the lead to 29-3. Ratcliffe added the extras for a convincing 31-5 win.
