Following consecutive wins on the Road at Consett and last week at Silver Royd, Scarborough have no time to rest on their laurels as they travel to North Shields on Saturday to take on Percy Park. The Geordies are undefeated at home so far this season winning all six fixtures at their Preston Road ground. Their last couple of home games have seen them beat Bridlington 43-0 and Malton & Norton 39-17.

Last Saturday saw Scarborough bounce back from a try conceded in the 3rd minute of the game to put visitors Morley to the sword running in eight tries in a convincing 50-17 win to remain top of North One East. However they have injury and unavailability problems for Saturday’s trip north.

Last week a punishing pack performance was the cornerstone of a memorable victory; however for the visit to Percy Park the Seasiders’ eight will be disrupted by the absence of hooker Sam Dawson and second row Tom Hicks with work commitments and No8 Ben Martin who is injured. Coach Simon Smith moves Matty Jones to hooker and the experienced Nino Cutino starts at prop for Jones. Ex-Whitby lock Luke Brown steps in for Hicks and the versatile Aaron Wilson moves from centre to replace Martin; Billy Parker returns from injury in the centre.

This game will stretch Scarborough’s playing resources but the squad has coped well so far this campaign and the team retains a familiar look with Parker and Wilson returning to familiar ground and a more than useful bench of Ian Williams,  Jordan Holloway and Jack Anderson. The team and supporters’ bus leaves Silver Royd at 9.45am on Saturday.

Also in action on the road on Saturday are the Vikings who travel to Beverley for a 2.15pm kick-off; they’ll be looking for more of the same after thrashing Hull University 64-10 at Silver Royd on their last outing.
