SCARBOROUGH 50 MORLEY 17

By Dave Campbell

Scarborough conceded a try with less than five minutes played but came storming back for another outstanding bonus-point win at Silver Royd.

Morley struck in the 3rd minute before the Seasiders had time to draw breath when hooker Simon Ridgeway powered over from close range for a 5-0 lead.

Scarborough struck back almost immediately when centre Matty Young crossed from close range two minutes later to level the scores at 5-5. They then lost the services of skipper Matty Jones yellow-carded in the 11th minute for an offence only referee Gavin Jones saw.

Tries from scrum-half Jordi Wakeham and Tom Ratcliffe who converted Wakeham’s effort stretched the home lead to 17-5 before flanker Ollie Flegg scored from close-range for the visitors on the stroke of half-time.; Fullback Thomas Isherwood converted to cut the deficit to 17-12 at the break.

Scarborough dominated the second half with perhaps their best forty minutes rugby this season and tries from centre Aaron Wilson, hooker Sam Dawson, wing Manning Smith, fullback Jimmy Perrett and a second for Wakeham. Morley scored a late consolation try but Scarborough ran out convincing 50-17 winners.
