A VIEW FROM THE MAIN STAND AT SILVER ROYD
Scarborough entertains visitors North Ribblesdale at Silver Royd tomorrow in a game which was postponed due to inclement weather in December.
The Settle-based outfit have been deep in the Yorkshire One relegation zone for most of the season but have had a bit of a resurgence in the last few weeks winning two out of their last three games beating Hullensians 34-5 and Keighley 22-17 both at home; however they have yet to win on the road. They did give Moortown a run for their money a couple of weeks ago where they went down 39-31 earning a bonus point for scoring five tries.
Last week the whole Scarborough squad put in a big shift in beating Old Brods at Hipperholme. Matty Jones’s men played down the famous Woodhead slope and led 15-10 at half time. Playing up the slope and into driving wintery showers after the break they racked up a further 21 points and a terrific defensive display near the end saw them run out 36-27 winners of a cracking game.
If there are no late changes, Coach Simon Smith has, with the exception of the absence of the injured Tom Harrison, arguably his strongest side on the paddock. Chris Purdy retains his second row berth and Euan Govier is on the bench following a man of the match performance in the Vikings 5-0 win at Hornsea last week.
So the scene is set for another Silver Royd thriller with the visitors’ on the up and Scarborough looking to maintain their promotion push; with Ribb running in five tries at Moortown and Scarborough having racked up fourteen bonus points this season it could be a high scoring game.
