SCARBOROUGH DEFEND A SCRUM IN LAST WEEK’S 34-32 WIN AT  RISHWORTHIANS

Next up at Silver Royd on Saturday is the Yorkshire One fixture between Scarborough and Halifax-based outfit Heath.

Both sides come to this game with almost identical records having won seven out of eight games in Yorkshire One; the Seasiders’ only defeat was at the hands of league-leaders York on the road and Heath were beaten at home on the first day of the season by Old Rishworthians who were narrowly beaten by Scarborough last week.

Three points separate the clubs with Scarborough second and Heath third. Those bonus points were earned by skipper Matty Jones’s men scoring an average of six tries per game (with the exception of the defeat at York) this season.

Heath have reportedly built their game around a strong pack but perhaps they won’t have everything their own way today as the Scarborough eight have improved tremendously over the last month. Simon Smith’s charges will have to be on their mettle for this one and a hard-fought game is in prospect between two well-matched sides.
