JAMES LEACH IS ATTENDED TO ON THE SILVER ROYD PITCH

Following last week’s 68-8 dismissal of Acklam, Scarborough turned in an inept, static performance lacking movement and structure against Durham/Northumberland One side Middlesbrough in the Yorkshire Challenge Shield at Silver Royd.

Trailing 0-13 at the break Coach Lee Douglas’ charges lost the services of promising lock forward James Leach with a nasty knee dislocation which caused the game to be continued on an adjacent pitch. Leach was taken to Scarborough General Hospital and the Teesiders went on to win 25-12.

I’ll let you know when we know how James is progressing with his injury but away from the A & E department, Scarborough’s  coaching staff will have to take a long look at this performance which bore a startling resemblance to a game of walking rugby in its somnambulant pace.

Following an excellent performance in beating fancied York at Silver Royd last month, the standard of fare on display in this game shows how desperately the Seasiders need to bring consistency to their play.
