Canadian prop Liam joins Scarborough’s ‘Bratpack’

The latest addition to Scarborough’s playing staff Canadian teenager Liam Murray flew into Manchester earlier this week and has been training at Silver Royd. The young prop has who is in the CANADA RUGBY under-18 training squad hails from Vancouver and played for Langley RUFC on Canada’s west coast. I caught up with him as he watched his new teammates take on West Park Leeds yesterday. He can’t wait to get into action and if selected is keenly anticipating next Saturday’s local derby with Bridlington.   Murray attended a Rugby Canada U18 evaluation camp at Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia back in October and celebrated his 18th birthday whilst at the camp with young players from all over Canada.  Going up against the best in his age group may have been intimidating for some: however Murray did not have that problem as he is accustomed to playing against men, some of whom are twice his age for Langley’s First Division side. Great stuff;  but I’m sure this likeable young man will find life in a Yorkshire One front row as big a challenge as he has faced in his rugby life so far!
