Following last week’s convincing 35-5 defeat of Wath at Silver Royd, Coach Lee Douglas’ charges travel to Leeds on Saturday to take on Horseforth-based Yarnbury RUFC. The Seasiders ran in five tries against the south Yorkshiremen and unsurprisingly show no changes in the backs for the trip. There is a couple of changes in the forwards; Mark Hopper comes in at prop looking to reprise his man of the match performance at Selby in the absence of Paul Taylor who is injured and Paul White returns at open side in the back row having recovered from a head injury which kept him out of action against Wath. Consequently Rob Sutton, who scored a spectacular try last week, moves to the bench joining Billy Parker and new Kiwi signing Jesse Macdonald who’ll be front row substitute.

ROB SUTTON SPRINTING AWAY TO SCORE LAST WEEK

ROB SUTTON SPRINTING AWAY TO SCORE LAST WEEK

Although they have three good wins under their belts skipper Tom Ratcliffe’s men are not getting carried away and know what a tough league Yorkshire One is, however it has to be said that most of Scarborough’s early wins last season were pretty scrappy whilst so far this campaign the side has produced some entertaining and winning rugby. It’s a long season but it’s been a good start. Their opponents on Saturday, Yarbury have won one and lost one so far having been promoted from Yorkshire Two at the end of last season. They opened with a 23-11 win over fancied Old Brods but went down 25-12 at Pontefract last Saturday. So it’s anyone’s guess for Saturday’s clash but the Scarborough lads will fancy themselves for this one.

The Vikings entertain Yarnbury 2nds at SilverRoyd on Saturday and name a 22 man squad for the game. Having returned from Australia and played in the Scarborough second string’s 20-17 defeat of Wath 2nds last week, the former club YDO plays with many of the club’s up and coming youngsters and is joined by the experienced Tom Fish, Brett Canham, Matt Lucas, Simons Smith and Dixon, Matty Young and Joe Lenton. The Vikings versus Yarnbury 2nds kicks off at 3pm.

ENGLAND WOMEN'S UNDER-18 SEVENS SQUAD

ENGLAND WOMEN’S UNDER-18 SEVENS SQUAD

Congratulations to Zoe Aldcroft and her England teammates in winning the European under-18 woman’s rugby sevens championship in Sweden last weekend. England scored 45 unanswered tries in their six games, scoring 269 points and conceding none. Their closest game was their 36-0 win over Russia in the semi-final, with all other games being won by a margin of 43 points or more, culminating in a 54-0 win over Wales in the final. I think there is much, much more to come from Zoe.
