Scarborough continued their preparation for next month’s Yorkshire Shield Final against Ilkley with a five try 36-14 victory over visitors York at Silver Royd yesterday. Playing with a southerly wind behind them, the Seasiders raced to a 15-0 lead in the first quarter with tries from open side Blake Nightingale and scrum half Zynec Schutz. Tom Harrison converted Schutz’s effort and added a penalty. Scarborough dominated possession in the second quarter and made a hatful of try scoring opportunities; however they failed to capitalise on their dominance and only led 15-0 at half-time. A try for York No8 Willem Enslin early in the second half gave the visitors hope but skipper Phil Watson’s men responded with three touchdowns’ of their own through Nino Cutino, Benji Cottle and Tom Harrison who converted all three. Enslin scored a further try for the visitors. Read my full report in the SCARBOROUGH NEWS on-line tomorrow and in the print edition next Thursday, 10th April.
