Second half fightback sinks league-leaders Doncaster Phoenix at Silver Royd

10 Nov

Scarborough turned in their best performance of the season yesterday twice coming from behind to dispose of league-leaders Doncaster Phoenix and maintain their unbeaten home record at Silver Royd this season. First half tries from scrum-half Zbynec Schutz and Benji Cottle augmented by five points from the boot of wing Tom Ratcliffe saw the Seasiders level with their south Yorkshire visitors 15-15 at the break. Phoenix landed a penalty and a try, both from fly-half Ben Miller, early in the second half to lead 23-15 but a fighting performance against a big visiting XV saw prop Paul Taylor cross for a try before skipper Tom Harrison slotted two late penalties to clinch the game 26-23. A full report and a video interview with Coach Lee Douglas will be in the Scarborough News on-line later today.  Full coverage of the game will be in the Scarborough News print edition on Thursday.
