I was up at Scarborough Rugby club about ten this morning to get a good seat for the final Lions’ test. A great start saw the Lions take an early 10-0 lead and they appeared to be cruising with a 19-3 lead just before the interval thanks to their dominance up front. A try for Australia on the cusp of half-time saw the lead cut to 19-10 at the break. The Aussies came back strongly and reduced the arrears to three points at 16-19 and looked as if they might go on to win as following a botched Lions’ line-out they camped on the visitor’s line. Great defence saw Warren Gatland’s side weather the storm and a superbly resilient performance saw three thrilling tries from the men in red in the closing stages as they blew away the Wallaby’s challenge to clinch the series 2-1 with a record breaking 41-16 win. I finished off the day dining alfresco with a couple of drinks to celebrate. Come on Andy Murray tomorrow!
