LIONS DISAPPOINT BUT GREAT STUFF FROM ENGLAND AT THE OVAL

A COUPLE OF EARLY WICKETS FROM JIMMY ANDERSON SET ENGLAND ON THEIR WAY

Yesterday’s 14-12 defeat of what was virtually a Lions’ second team by the Brumbies was very disappointing, particularly their lack of physicality at the breakdown and their inability to score a try; Roll on Saturday and the first test against Australia.   For me, England’s convincing and complete performance in the Champions Trophy semi-final at the Oval today made up for that disappointment. At 80-8 it looked as if it was all over for South Africa but a late flourish by the rabbits at the end took their score to 175 all out. England knocked them off for three without too many anxious moments with Jonathon Trott top scoring with 82. Roll on again the final at Edgbaston on Sunday; I’m off to crack a couple of cold ones!!
