Players wearing T-shirts for Mo before a game last season

I have received the following email from Dave Marsden:

It is now closing on a year since Andrew lost his battle with cancer and left us all shocked by his parting at just 37. John and Jean have decided that the best way we can remember Andrew is to come together annually at the club to enjoy a game and of course a beer or two, some crazy games and a sing song!

Jez Pratt, Simon Smith, Russ Wilkie and Dave Marsden have been tasked with formatting the Inaugural Andrew ‘Mo’ Stevenson game. This will be held every Easter Monday at the club. This year that falls on Monday April 1st and the day will start at 12 noon for those wishing to gather in the memorial garden for a service of remembrance. A two course lunch will be served at 1pm, with a game at 2-30pm between a Scarborough XV selected by Simon Smith and a Klosters XV selected by Russ Wilkie. The day will conclude with a beer and some revelry in the clubhouse post-match.

An invite is extended to all players who have played alongside Mo to get in touch via email or texting 07766 074355 with your name. In the years gone by, I am sure all these players will have had a call from Mo on a Friday night or walked in to Klosters to see Mo grinning cheekily, then chuckling as he said ‘Can you play tomorrow for the thirds, they are short?’ Well on this occasion we know shortage of players will not be a problem. As such we urge you to contact early. At the end of February Simon and Russ will sit down and select two balanced and competitive sides, who will battle out to be the first winners of the Mo Stevenson Shield, which John and Jean have kindly donated. Not everyone will get to play, but we hope those not selected will still come along on the day. We hope that each player selected will encourage friends and family to join in the day by participating in the pre-match fundraising lunch.

An invite goes out to all club members and friends to enjoy a 2 course lunch at 1pm, at a cost of £15 per head. The proceeds of this and indeed a raffle and auction on the day will be donated to the charity chosen by John and Jean.

So please contact us now if you want to play and also shout now for tickets to lunch as we envisage the demand will be great.
