CHRIS PURDY ON THE CHARGE

After last week’s win in baking conditions at Barnsley, Halifax-based outfit Heath RUFC are next up at Silver Royd on Saturday. It was a big surprise when the west Yorkshiremen went down 6-50 to Yorkshire One new boys Wath on the opening day of the season especially as they have re-signed long-time Heath favourite Giles Hetherington following his short sojourn at Bradford and Bingley where he was the club’s leading points scorer last season. They have also signed former North of England back row Liam Sharp also from Waggon Lane. Last week they went down 24-17 to Driffield with Hetherington scoring one of their two tries in the game.  For Scarborough, Jason Lowde has selected Graeme Jeffrey on the right wing, Zybnek Schutz at scrum-half with Ian Williams and Paul Taylor in the front row. I’m a bit surprised that the second row is unchanged; we have really struggled in that department in the opening three games of the season. Sam Warren, Luke Raines and Paul White are on the bench. We won the corresponding game 41-0 at Silver Royd at the end of last season; however I’ve a feeling Saturday’s game will be a much closer affair.
