MATTY YOUNG SCORES THE OPENING TRY AGAINST DRIFFIELD

I’m off tomorrow with Dave Prince to cover Scarborough’s away game with Barnsley. The south Yorkshiremen made a winning start to the season at home beating fancied York 35-22. Coach Jason Lowde has kept the same side that is unbeaten so far this season but includes Sam Warren, Paul Taylor and Graeme Jeffrey on the bench. Barnsley were promoted from Yorkshire Two and are a young and able side which will test skipper Phil Watson’s team’s resolve. Unfortunately contrarily to what was in my Scarborough News column, there is no home game at Silver Royd tomorrow as Goole gave back word on Wednesday after my deadline for the paper; I apologize for that. The Vikings and Danesmen are on the road to Driffield and Ossett respectively. There is a bus from the club at 1045 tomorrow and if you are travelling away don’t forget all three game kick-off at 3pm.
